Break

Players will leave the tournament area and go on a 15 minute break.

99% Chips

Watch a hand develop on a board of 5c10h4h Brian Kiely has bet 17,000 into the pot and is waiting for his opponent to call, suspected that this was an all in but as the dealer turned Ah the two players still hadn't turned their cards, Kiely had 1,200 chips left behind & as his opponent looked back at his cards he set him all in with a snap call as Kiely turned over AcAd for top set with his opponent drawing dead as he held 9s9c with the inconsequential Qh on the river.

McCloskey Magic

Peek my head over the shoulder of Mick McCloskey to see he is now above the 50,000 starting stack, he is delighted by this and mutters "taken me till past 11 o'clock to get back to starting"

TD's

TD's have been dishing out the two hand penalties for players who leave the table before the action has come to them, while railing one table I overhear TD Nick O Hara giving the penalty to two different players on opposite tables.

Always on the ball with his rulings.

Flush Over Flush

Marc MacDonnell tweeted a little while back he was up to 145,000 dropped to 27,000 and looked like he dropped as low as 20,000 according to his Twitter and managed to get back up to 40,000 after 77 housed up for him, since then he has been on the up & up but took a small bump awhile back.

Two way action to the flop MacDonnell ended up losing a good size pot when he got flush over flush with his opponent holding the nutflush, saying he made the pot too big, but just popped over to have a quick look at his stack and he informs me has bounced back and up to 170,000

He was also on the final table of Lloyd O Farrell back in 2008 and finished in 7th place.

Last Level for Entries

We are currently 15 minutes into level 9 which is the last level for entrants, with 45 minutes left to go we're currently looking at 455 players who have so far taken to the felt today.

Blinds now increase to 400/800/100 average stack 62,158 with 365 players currently remaining.

Champion Chopped

Only champion to have won a European Deepstack play today has been eliminated, Magnus Nasslin mentioned to me in an earlier post that it wasn't go his way today, when I caught his bust out hand he was down just under 7,000 and all in in early position. Player on the button was toying with the one time champion asking him what he wanted him to do "call or fold" Nasslin said nothing as his opponent put the chips in the pot.

Nasslin - Ac10d

Opponent - 6d6c

Flopping as well as he could without actually hitting as it came down 9d8sJh two more pulls at the trigger couldn't get him out of the jail as the dealer burned and tunred Kc and dealt a brick river 8h to send Nasslin to the rails.

King Ball River

Stanley Smith binks the miracle river card to keep his hopes alive and give him a very healthy stack, open from a player on the table which is 3bet to 5,000 action to Smith who 4bet to 14,000 original raiser steps out of the way now bring his opponent to 5bet shove & called for 46,700.

Smith - AhKc

Opponent - QhQs

Brick flop as it was spread 3c6c3d Jh turn but the miracle Kd river as he was just about to get up out of his seat, pot had set him over 90,000. Smith has just come up to me in the last couple minutes to tell me he is up to 150,000 now after another AK hand was good to him when he got an A66 flop after some more 3-4-5bet action, man is in a groove.

Readjusting

Chatting on the 15 minute break to Lloyd O Farrell who one time was a very familiar face on the tournament scene in Ireland, back in 2008 he finished 4th in this event but not very much on his Hendon Mob after that taking a long break from the game he has popped up from time to time, only played one tournament last year and binked it so ear marked a few €€€ for this event.

Once an avid and very intuitive poker player he said today he feels a little out of sorts as the game has come on and his once sharp knowledge of the game has been left aside, missing spots he feels he would of normally capitalised on he is certainly not afraid to acknowledge that he thinks it isn't playing all that good today, still early in the game and sitting on around 40,000 gives him plenty of time to get back into the zone.

Just Shoving

Couple hands before the break I was over asking Mick McCloskey for a sound bite his response "reduced to shoving" chatting to him on and off throughout the day things haven't been going very well, as I was walking back past his table 1 minute later there is a raise from the button to 1,200 with a flat call from the SB with McCloskey shoving his 14,000 into the middle and not getting looked up.

Resume

Players have retaken their seats as we move into Level 8 blinds 300/600/100 average stack of 58,184 391 from 455 remain.

Break

Players on a 15 minute break.

Long Walks

Just had a few folk over to stretch their legs, loads of chips and 1 hour blinds means you can take that extra few minutes on your smoke break no need to be rushing around the place.

Former Champion

Magnus Nasslin is the only former champion partaking in the Main Event this weekend, just chatting to him briefly he is on 43,000 and hasn't been playing very well he mentioned.

Trips

Stefano Bellisario took a couple of chips of Irish man Jay O Toole, opening the action in EP to 625 Bellisario is looked up in two spots O Toole in the CO & Sean Prendiville on the button, three players to the flop.

Dealer spreading a AdKs2h flop original raiser leads for 1,200 with O Toole being the only caller, As fell on the turn pairing the board and it slowed down both players as it went check/check river fell 9c 2,500 was the bet from Bellisario and quickly called behind, AcQc he showed to a disgruntled O Toole, but he Irish man is still sitting well after getting set over set.

Bottom Pair Good

In a blind on blind battle Stefan Deutsch opens to 625 with Tom Finneran flatting behind, two to the flop of 2hQsKd Deutsch leads 600 & call, 4d check/check and when the board paired on the river with Kh both players once again checked the action as the original raiser shows 2c9c which is good as Finnerans cards head to the muck.

Overbet the Pot

Missing the pre flop action I see Ross Johnson involved in a hand, board reading KdJcQd 2,200 or so in the middle having checked his action to the other player in the hand his opponent asked how much he had left 13,500 was what he had, betting 7,000 into the pot Johnson was in the middle of tweeting a hand before he decided what to do.

Putting all the chips in the middle he was met with a quick call, Johnson held KhJs for two pair but was in bad shape up against Ah10c for the flopped straight, needing the board to pair with a King/Jack on the turn or river but it wasn't to be as the board ran out 3s7h.

And bust Top and bottom vs a flopped straight. Wasn't a normal pot....

Split Dinner Break

Tables 30-51 will now leave the tournament area & go on a 1 hour dinner break, players from tables 1-29 will continue on with blinds now running 200/400/50

Break

Players once again leave for a 20 minute break.

Elimination

Alexis Bauby is one of the most recent eliminations and I get the hand details off his table mate Gerard Harraghy, flop read KQ10 two spades Baudy called a bet when the turn fell X spade he open jammed the flop only for his opponent to call holding three Queens vs his JJ.

Sneaky Backdoor Draw

Table 15 saw Hannu Korva raise to 600 from the CO Max Silver on the button flats as does Franco Munafo from the BB.

Flop s3d8hKd Munafo leads into the pot for 1,000 & Korva raises to 3,000 with Silver side stepping the action, flatted from BB. Kd turn lead the Munafo to now check call 5,000 as we went onto the river card 7d, checking his action once more it was up to Korva to figure out how much he could bet that would get called 8,000 was the figure & met with a quick call, Jd8d turned over by Korva for the backdoor flush draw while his opponent flashed the  Kh

Unique Players

With 438 players registered at the moment we are on coarse to hit similar numbers of unique players as we had last year with 6 levels still for late entrants, 492 unique players played the event in 2012 with the addition of a re-entry that took the number to 590 total.

Frederique Brelot is the lastest addition to the bust out list.

2nd Elimination

Ivo Schoofs was our second player eliminated when he lost the majority of his chips with AA vs KK all in pre flop against Clement Racaud when KK turned a straight, left with 2,000 chips he picked up 88 all in pre against J10 and exited the event.

Tweet from the hand,

8 bet allin and a call at my table. Kk v aa for 500bb as you do. Kk won.

First Man Down

Colin Johnson was our first player eliminated when he ran into 3 Queens on the flop and lost a good chunk of his stack but never showed, the remainder of his chips went in preflop with 88 vs KK of Noel Murphy, with that he has the unfortunate distinction of being the first player eliminated.

10 minutes into 75/150 clock reads 430 players with 1 elimination.

Seated

Posted a picture at the start of play with an empty field, now we are up to 421 players the visual of that has changed.

Good Start

Henry Port who has final tabled 2 events previous at this venue is going for his 3rd in a row, only a couple hands into play after arriving late he is up to 70,000 from 50,000 so it's a good start for the young up & comer.

Fist hand he held 6s9s and was chasing a flush but missed it by the river but was just barreling it against his opponent and with a big 12,000 bet on the river he got the fold, next hand he picked up pocket 2's and managed to pick himself up another 8,000 or so when he flopped a set.
